Credit Accumulation and Transfer

Details about the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) are available on the Institute website on our awards-and-qualification-scheme page.

Credit FAQs are also available at http://www.cont-ed.cam.ac.uk/faqs/3-credit-faqs

The credit achieved online can be included with credit achieved by attendance at face to face sessions in the accumulation of credit for an award, where appropriate.  The University of Cambridge does not currently offer any award for study that is completed totally online.

Where the award is an award of the University, up to 30% of the total credit can be achieved online where the online courses are appropriate to the award.

In the academic year 2009-10, where students may accumulate credit toward a Certificate of Continuing Education awarded by the Institute of Continuing Education, up to 50 credits may be carried forward into this award, requiring the successful achievement of a further 10 credits following attendance at a 10 credit, or two 5 credit courses.
